Trish St. Hill, a cultural activist from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is dedicated to preserving Garifuna culture through her literary work. She has three historical fiction novels, including ‘Beneath The Golden Mango Tree,’ ‘Beyond The Mango’s Shade,’ and ‘Tears of Exile: The Garifuna Hell-O-Cast.’ Her novels have been used to educate others about the Garifuna people. A recipient of the Garifuna Heritage Award, Trish is currently writing her fourth novel and serves as president of the Argo Civic Association and president of Ajani Publishing.
My Story
Trish St. Hill, born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is a renowned cultural activist and literary figure dedicated to preserving the Garifuna culture. As the author of three historical fiction novels, including Beneath The Golden Mango Tree, she aims to educate readers about the Garifuna people. Trish has received numerous awards for her humanitarian efforts and literary contributions, including the Garifuna Heritage Award and an African American Night in the Park Award. Additionally, she was personality of the month on the Polacio Exchange website and woman of the month in both the Hempstead dispatch and Hempstead Times. She has facilitated workshops and established scholarships to assist Garifuna communities in St. Vincent and Belize. With her third book, Tears of Exile: The Garifuna Hell-O-Cast, published in 2015, she explores the historical trauma of the Garifuna people. Currently, she is working on her fourth novel while actively serving as president of the Argo Civic Association and balancing her roles as a customer service supervisor, mother, and grandmother. Trish’s commitment to cultural preservation and community service underscores her exceptional dedication.
